What does your photo say about you?
A photo straight off a phone carries where it was taken, to within a few metres, which camera took it, its serial number, and when. Drop one in and see.

How it removes things
By copying the file without the parts that hold metadata. The compressed image data is never decoded and never re-encoded, so the picture you download is the same pixels, bit for bit — unlike a tool that re-saves it and quietly costs you quality.
What it keeps
The colour profile and the orientation, because dropping those changes how the picture looks. Everything else — EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, maker notes, comments, the embedded preview thumbnail — goes.
The one thing that leaves your machine
The “open it on a map” link, if you click it. That hands the coordinates to OpenStreetMap, which is the point of a map. Everything else happens here.
In a terminal
npx github:CedricPoint/exif-scrub photo.jpg --write does the same
thing to a whole folder at once.
